Short version:We collect only what we need to run this site. We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers. You can ask us to delete everything about you at any time. That's it, really.
Who we are
Ride My Unicorn is operated by a Danish sole proprietorship registered in Denmark. The site lives at ridemyunicorn.net and is the digital home of The Unicorn Journals — a personal growth book and blog.

What we collect and why
Email address (if you subscribe)
When you sign up to receive new essays, we store your email address and the date you subscribed. We use this to send you notifications when new content is published. Nothing else.
Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, or by emailing us directly.
Comments
If you leave a comment on a blog post, we store your name, email address (optional), the comment text, and the date. Comments are moderated before they appear publicly. Your email address is never displayed publicly.
Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — which posts are popular, how long people read, where they come from. This data is anonymised and aggregated. We do not use it to identify individuals.
Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding site usage to improve content.
What we do NOT collect
We do not collect payment information (book purchases go through Amazon). We do not run advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep your data
Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, after which we delete your email within 30 days.
Comments: until you ask us to delete them, or until we delete the post they're attached to.
Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics per their standard retention settings (14 months by default).
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — ask us to stop processing your data in certain ways
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ridemyunicorn.net. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.dk.
Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid, _gat) — anonymised analytics. Expires after 2 years.
- Session storage — used for the admin dashboard login. Stored locally in your browser only, never sent to a server.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:

Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We won't send you a newsletter about it because that would be annoying and you're already here.
